Grows to: 100 ft.
Dense foliage, profuse small red flowers in April. Native to eastern United States. More cold hardy than Acer platanoides (Norway maple) and faster growing. Brilliant scarlet fall color.
How To Start These Seeds:
Scarification: Soak in water, let stand in water for 24 hours
Stratification: Cold stratify for 30 days
Germination: Sow seed 1/8 inch deep, tamp the soil, mulch the seed bed
Other: Natural fall sowing in mulched beds

The ordering process was simple, the seeds were shipped promptly, and the seed quality was excellent! I soaked them and stratified them (in moist Sphagnum moss)and within about a month they were starting to sprout. I pulled them out of the fridge to plant and lo and behold, there were about 50 seedlings (from a "40-pack" of seeds). Bonus! The seedlings all appear to be true Red Maples and from good stock. I hope my babies make it through the winter...
