Red Osier Dogwood, also known as Red-Twigged Dogwood, is a fast growing bush/shrub sporting red or dark purple stems that stand out in winter. Very tolerant of poor conditions, provides cover and food for wildlife, good purple-red Fall colour, white flowers in early summer followed by small white fruit. The Red Osier shrub is fast growing and will form colonies through spreading root stolons.
How To Start These Seeds:
Scarification: Soak in water, let stand in water for 24 hours
Stratification: Cold stratify for 90 days
Germination: Sow seed 1/8 inch deep, tamp the soil, mulch the seed bed
Other: Natural fall sowing in mulched beds
