The Monterey Termite and Carpenter Ant Control Spray is fast acting and works on a wide range of lawn pests such as chinchbugs, Sod Webworms and outdoor fleas and ticks, as well as wood destroying insects such as termites and carpenter ants.
The active ingredient in the Monterey Termite and Carpenter Ant Control Spray is Bifenthrin. The product is fast acting and provides an extended protection period of about 16 weeks for cockroaches and 12 weeks for most other pests. For continued protection against insects, re-application is recommended every 10 to 14 weeks. The mixing ratio for most insects is 0.5 fl oz (1 Tbs.) of the concentrate to 1 gallon of water. The 1 pint (16 oz) concentrate will make about 32 gallons of spray. When controlling for termites the mixing ratio is 3.2 oz of concentrate to 1 gallon of water.
To control insects in and around the home an garden, the product can be used as both a spray or a drench. The drench can be applied to target nests or as a barrier to prevent insect migration.
For wood destroying pests the product can be sprayed directly on wood materials that are being attacked, as well as used as a preventative treatment against future attack.
In the case of ants and termites the product can also be applied as a drench around ant mounts and other nesting areas to kill the insects at their source.
The Monterey Termite and Carpenter Ant Control Spray can also be used as a trench treatment in the soil to prevent the migration of termites and carpenter ants to targeted buildings. For termites, the mixing ratio for a trench is 3.2 fl oz of concentrate per gallon of water and 1 gallon of the mixture for every 2.5 linear feet of protection zone. Reapplication for subterranean termites should be made when there has been a disruption of the chemical barrier in the sol due to construction, excavation or landscaping.
