Comments
The European ash is a rather large tree with dark green summer foliage and
little or no fall color. It may be used on high pH soils but is otherwise
unremarkable.
Cultivars
'Aureafolia' - This rounded, compact tree will have a height and spread of
about 20 feet. The new foliage and young twigs are yellow. The foliage
becomes yellowish green in summer then yellow in fall.
'Hessei' - A rounded tree, slightly smaller than the
species. It has dark green, lustrous foliage and is often used as a street
tree.
