Height 15-20m (50-60')
Leaves 3-5cm (1-3")
Native to Japan, this medium-sized tree has the
vase-shaped form typical of American elms. Its tolerance of Dutch elm
disease has made it a popular choice to replace disease-stricken
populations. It flourishes in almost any good soil preferring a deep,
well-drained moist loam.
Fast-growing, its leaves are slender and 3-5 cm long with
8-14 veins per side ending in a single sharp tooth.
