A fairly large maple with a good spread - not often seen in landscapes. Tough, resilient to exposed conditions, salt and the seaside. Leaves are dark green above, rich purple purple beneath.

How To Start These Seeds:
Scarification: Soak in water, let stand in water for 24 hours
Stratification: Cold stratify for 120 days
Germination: Sow seed 1/8 inch deep, tamp the soil, mulch the seed bed
Other: Natural fall sowing in mulched beds
