For those of you new to pH testing, you'll appreciate this easy, fast, and fun way to achieve a healthier pond.
Why Should You Test pH?
The quality of pond water is vital to ensure healthy fish and plant life. Poor water conditions cause fish to lose their color, behave unnaturally and become prone to disease. Plants will also discolor and show signs of stunted growth.
Pond water should always be tested before fish are introduced and regularly monitored throughout the year. Any changes in water conditions can therefore be quickly identified and remedied.
When Should You Test pH?
In general, pond water testing should be based upon weather conditions in your area. In areas with winter seasons, pond water should be tested every 2 weeks from the beginning of April to the end of September and periodically during the winter period, especially when the pond is iced over. In climates with extended warm temperatures, you should continue to test further into the season and periodically during cooler weather. In tropical climates, testing should be year round.
How Does the Tester Work?
All you do is put a sample of pond water into the comparator, add powder from a capsule, shake and watch the color develop. Then, note your test results. Fast, easy and it only takes a few minutes.
