Foliage: Wide, dark green leaves when mature, yellow and orange-red in the fall, pink to white flowers in early spring, black fruits
Height: 30 to 50 feet

Shape: Rounded or vase-shaped
Growth Characteristics: Moderate growth rate

Sargent cherry is the most cold-hardy of the flowering cherries and lives longer than other types. The black fruit is quite small, making the tree less messy. Its good fall colour adds interest at the end of the growing season. A good garden or street tree.

Care
Sargent cherry trees can be pruned when young in order to train to a short and single trunk.

Problems
Japanese Beetles are a fairly serious problem on this type of cherry, however it is not affected by problems inflicting other cherry trees.
