General Care Tips Yellow Butterfly Palms tolerate both sunny and shady conditions. Trees grow best on fertile well-drained acid soil. Prune sparingly. Water during drought and fertilizer regularly. Avoid damaging lower trunk and roots. Things to Watch For: Insect pests include scales and sooty mould. The Yellow Butterfly Palm is vulnerable to ganoderma rot.
