Cherry trees make beautiful specimen plants. They are generally short-lived to about 20 years because they are prone to a variety insects and diseases. This does not deter the tree from being used in gardens as its attractiveness far outweighs its short life-span. Quite useful for adding early spring colour to a landscape, cherries also sometimes attract birds with their small single-seeded fruits produced during the summer. Spring blossom colour, leaf colour and fall colour all vary from species to species. |
