As its name suggests, it is often used as a hedge planting, but it also makes an excellent medium-sized lawn tree. Attractive bark in winter.

Hedge Maple likes full sun and does well in almost any soil. Tolerates heat, drought and urban conditions.

How To Start These Seeds:
Scarification: Soak in water, let stand in water for 24 hours
Stratification: Warm stratify for 30 days, cold stratify for 120 days
Germination: Sow seed 1/4 inch deep, tamp the soil, mulch the seed bed
Other: Natural fall sowing in mulched beds for spring germination
