Dense foliage, profuse small red flowers in April. Native to eastern United States. More cold hardy than Acer platanoides (Norway maple) and faster growing. Brilliant scarlet fall color.

Scarification: Soak in water, let stand in water for 24 hours
Stratification: Cold stratify for 30 days
Germination: Sow seed 1/8 inch deep, tamp the soil, mulch the seed bed
