The hollow post keeps the 12" electric cord out of sight (fully-grounded outdoor extension cord not included), and two hold-down stakes secure the feet to the ground. The thermostatically-controlled, sealed 75-watt heating element activates when water drops below 35°F, keeping water thawed (not warm) down to -10°F. The removable, heavy-duty forest-green pan is 14" in diameter, 1" deep, and holds 0.5 gallons. Assembly required.
