A very desirable small to medium-sized Japanese Maple. Sometimes referred to as a 'Full Moon Maple', this native to Japan displays a broad, circular 9-fingered green leaf that is somewhat less deeply 'cut' than Acer palmatum. Handsome smooth gray bark. Displays brilliant red, yellow or orange fall colour. Also known as 'Meigetsu'.

When choosing a location, keep in mind that the Full Moon Maple has a slow growth rate. It grows up to 15 feet in height and 15 feet in spread. It can be planted in zones 5 to 7. Prefers light shade and moist, rich and well-drained soil.

How To Start These Seeds:
Scarification: Soak in water, let stand in water for 24 hours
Stratification: Cold stratify for 90 days
Germination: Sow seed 3/8 inch deep, tamp the soil, mulch the seed bed
Other: Fall sowing in mulched beds is prefered to artificial stratification
