The Japanese Cornel Dogwood resembles Cornus mas, but its exfoliating bark is more colorful with rich grays, browns and oranges. Rounded in shape with low branches. It has red fruit and yellow flowers. Early spring flower display is impressive. Ideal for landscaping smaller areas.
When choosing a location, keep in mind that the Japanese Cornel Dogwood has a moderate growth rate. It grows up to 24 feet in height and 20 feet in spread. It can be planted in zones 5 to 8. Prefers full sun to partial shade and tolerates a range of soil types.
