Locust borer
Larvae tunnel in trunk and larger branches of live trees. Most damaging on younger trees during dry seasons. They attack healthy young trees boring into the heart and sapwood of stems and branches. Young larvae feeding in the spring cause bleeding at the site of the injury. Wet spots are present on the bark.  

Locust leafminer
Black locust is the preferred host for the larval stage but the adults can be found feeding on apple, oak, birch, beech, elm, cherry, and hawthorn. Locust leafminers are known to feed on soybeans as both larvae and adults when populations are high.

Wetwood
Bacterial wetwood is a common disease that affects the central core of many shade and forest trees. In many areas, the disease is most prevalent in elm, cottonwood, aspen and willow. The disease also affects species of ash, fir, maple, birch, hickory, beech, apple, mulberry, oak, sycamore, poplar, cherry, plum and linden.
