Downy Woodpecker Pine Nest Box with Slate Predator Guard

Provide downy woodpeckers with a nesting space designed around their needs with this Pine Downy Woodpecker Nest Box. Constructed from eastern white pine, the house offers a naturally insulated shelter with a 1.5-inch entrance sized for downy woodpeckers.

A recycled slate guard surrounds the entrance to help discourage squirrels and prevent woodpeckers from enlarging the opening, which could leave the nest more accessible to predators. Ventilation gaps along the sides promote airflow, while the sloped roof and drainage openings help keep the interior dry.

Wood shavings are included and can be spread 1 to 2 inches deep inside the box to help create a suitable nesting environment. A side panel lifts open for seasonal cleaning and maintenance, and a metal mounting hook is also included.
