The Orchid tree is also known as 'Purple Camel's Foot'. Native to Southeast Asia and southern China. A medium-sized flowering tree bearing rich purple, pink to nearly white flowers. An excellent small shade tree. Hummingbird and butterfly attractor. Common in southern California and Florida.
When choosing a location, keep in mind that the Orchid tree has a moderate growth rate. It grows up to 40 feet in height and 30 feet in spread. It can be planted in zones 8 to 10. Prefers a well-drained and warm location.

Scarification: Soak in water, let stand in water for 24 hours

Germination: Sow seed 3/8 inch deep, tamp the soil, mulch the seed bed
