Sparrow-Resistant Western Bluebird Nest Box with Slot Entry

Provide western bluebirds with a nesting space designed to help discourage sparrows with this Sparrow-Resistant Western Bluebird Nest Box. Instead of a traditional round entrance, the house uses a 5.25 x 1.25-inch slot opening that bluebirds can readily use while making the box less appealing to sparrows.

An included 1.5-inch-thick pine block can be placed at the bottom of the house to reduce the interior depth when needed. The 0.75-inch-thick pine construction creates a sturdy shelter, while ventilation openings below the roof help regulate airflow inside the nesting area.

The overhanging roof helps protect the interior from precipitation, and the rough wood surface gives nestlings extra grip as they move toward the exit. The front panel lifts upward for nest checks and maintenance and is secured with a metal latch.

A rear hanger allows the house to be mounted against a wall or post. It may also be pole mounted with a compatible mounting bracket, sold separately. The natural pine will gradually weather to a gray tone with outdoor exposure.
