The Sweet Scented Flowering Crab has surprisingly fragrant 1-2 inch white flowers and small 1 to 1.5 inch fruit. The fruit attracts birds in late summer. Rarely seen in the landscape. Other common names include; Sweet Crab Apple, American Crab Apple, Wild Sweet Crab and Wild Crab. Native to the east-central United States and lower Ontario.
When choosing a location, keep in mind that the Sweet Scented Flowering Crab has a moderate growth rate. Grows up to 30 feet in height and 35 feet in spread. It can be planted in zones 4 to 7. Prefers full sun and moist, well-drained soil although will tolerate a variety of environmental conditions.
