The Goldenrain Tree is an interesting tree bearing 10-inch panicles of yellow, fragrant flowers and red or brown pods. Sparingly branched with silver-gray furrowed bark. Autumn foliage turns yellow. Native to China, Korea and Japan. This very showy tree is ideal for yards and landscapes.
When choosing a location, keep in mind that the Goldenrain has a moderate growth rate. It grows up to 50 feet in height and 20 feet in spread. It can be planted in zones 5 to 9. Prefers full sun but will tolerate a variety of soil conditions. Requires additional water during hot conditions.
How To Start These Seeds:
Scarification: Soak in hot tap water, let stand in water for 24 hours
Stratification: Cold stratify for 90 days
Germination: Sow seed 3/8 inch deep, tamp the soil, keep moist, mulch the seed bed
