Seeds are an edible nut. Hazelnut is a large multi-stemmed shrub. Good for naturalizing. Native to eastern and central U.S. Also known as American Filbert.

American Hazelnut likes full to partial sun, and prefers well-drained loamy soil. Has a beautiful copper-red fall color.

How To Start These Seeds:
Scarification: Soak in water, let stand in water for 24 hours
Stratification: Cold stratify for 180 days
Germination: Can be sown oudoors naturally in fall for spring germination. Sow seed 1-2 inch deep, mulch the seed bed
