The Humm-Bug Hummingbird Protein Feeder attracts hummingbirds by first attracting fruit flies, a favourite treat for these tiny fine-feathered friends. Simply open the two-piece feeder, add 2 to 3 bananas and within a few days, hummingbirds will arrive to feast on the fruit flies. Hummingbirds cannot live on nectar alone - protein and vitamins found in small insects are essential for their survival. Fruit flies are one of hummingbirds' favourite foods and a single bird can eat hundreds a day. Hummingbirds also feed their young nectar and insects about every 20 minutes. The Humm-Bug Feeder should be hung in a dry, shaded area. For best results, hang the feeder next to flowers and/or a nectar feeder. Lift the lid and place 2-3 bananas in the center of the feeder. Empty, rinse and refill every 3 weeks.
