Italian Stone Pine is asymmetrical and flat-topped in habit with a dense crown. Native to the Mediterranean. An excellent landscape tree. It has 6-inch bright green stiff needles, 5-inch cones, 1/2-inch edible seeds (pignolia nuts). These nuts can be eaten raw or roasted and are used as an ingredient in traditional Italian cuisine.
When choosing a location, keep in mind that the Italian Stone Pine has a moderate growth rate. Grows up to 80 feet in height and 35 to 45 feet in spread. It can be planted in zones 6 to 8. Once established, this tree has good drought tolerance. Prefers full sun and well-drained soil.

Scarification: Soak in water, let stand in water for 24 hours
