Wilt-Pruf Plant Protector, 1 Quart Concentrate

Wilt-Pruf Plant Protector is a non-hazardous, organic, and biodegradable anti-transpirant spray made from a natural pine oil emulsion. It coats plant foliage in a clear, flexible layer that reduces moisture loss, protecting trees and plants from winter wind and summer heat stress, transplant shock while root systems are developing, and the drying out of cut Christmas trees and wreaths. One application typically protects for three to four months, sometimes longer depending on the climate, as the outer layer gradually wears away in sunlight, wind, and rain while a new layer forms underneath.

Composition and Safety

It's non-toxic to eyes and skin, and doesn't interfere with plant growth, respiration, osmosis, or photosynthesis. The concentrate isn't damaged by freezing in storage and has an indefinite shelf life.

How It Works

Ultraviolet light reacts with Wilt-Pruf's film-forming polymer the way sunlight wears through layers of bed sheets: as the outer layer wears off from sun, wind, and rain, another layer forms underneath, and the process repeats until all the layers are gone, which typically takes three to four months depending on the climate. Wilt-Pruf is the only horticulture anti-transpirant able to provide this kind of long-lasting protection. Most other anti-transpirants apply just a single coating, which can crack, fall off, or wear away in as little as two to three weeks, leaving the plant with no protection until it's reapplied.

Directions to Use

Mix 1 part concentrate to 10 parts water for summer protection; a part can be any measured quantity, as long as the ratio stays the same. Use a stronger 1 part concentrate to 5 parts water mix for winter protection. For bulb storage, dip or spray bulbs to the point of run-off with a 1:10 concentrate-to-water mix, then allow them to dry in daylight.
